Through an outstanding action, after 13 minutes, Nicu Dobre successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, Colteni's Codruț Gaiță got a free kick in the 17th minute. Dan Gabrea hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Colteni's goal looked a bit too open when Toader Zăraşcu came free, but Nicu Dobre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rareș Lupoaia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ioan Davidescu's late challenge caught a Matau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ioan Davidescu helped the player get up and apologised. Nicu Dobre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toader Zăraşcu in the 33rd minute of the match. After having played for 35 minutes, Codruț Gaiță managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colteni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Codruț Gaiță was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicu Dobre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rareș Lupoaia, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Claudiu Codreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horea Marchidan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nechifor Baltian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 55th minute, Horea Marchidan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Toader Zăraşcu charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toader Zăraşcu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Toader Zăraşcu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute.
