Adrian Nicolaes short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Dorin Mercea to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cătălin Buda's late challenge caught a FC Calea Sagului's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cătălin Buda helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Poli Iasi:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Calea Sagului:s goal. Dorin Mercea made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doriva Jacinto in the 46th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pompiliu Spiridon to strike the kick off in the second half. Doriva Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ciprian Ivănescu fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee gave Ciprian Ivănescu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Ciprian Ivănescu hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. When Doriva Jacinto came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the FC Calea Sagului fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doriva Jacinto couldn't finish the play. Poli Iasi's Dorin Mercea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niculae Maior in the 67th minute of play. But to his dismay, Irinel Postelnicu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 13-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Calea Sagului fully deserved thier win.
