UMF IASI's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabian Barys was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Mugur Ailenei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vali Stoican in the 12th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, F.C SBG DTR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Șerban Dobrițoiu to maneuver through the defense. Fabian Barys blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mugur Ailenei having to make a save. 19 minutes into the game, Vali Stoican cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mugur Ailenei was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Fabian Barys had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Olimpiu Gurlui fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C SBG DTR's protests and gave Olimpiu Gurlui a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to F.C SBG DTR getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Olimpiu Gurlui hit a great ball. Aurel Cotuțiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sorin Timofte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Lucian Caramitru made a huge save. In the 25th minute, UMF IASI's Sorin Timofte dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Mugur Ailenei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vali Stoican, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Aristide Cucerdean lost his temper 45 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 46th minute, Aristide Cucerdean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sorin Timofte might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lucian Caramitru. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sorin Timofte ran back to his position shaking his head. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aurel Cotuțiu made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Sorin Timofte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucian Caramitru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. UMF IASI's Ştefan Gordunescu pulled a muscle in his back after 53 minutes and couldn't finish the game. UMF IASI's Dorin Nae was substituted for Ştefan Gordunescu. 55 minutes into the match, F.C SBG DTR's goal looked a bit too open when Aurel Cotuțiu came free, but Lucian Caramitru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iosif Negru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Mugur Ailenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lucian Caramitru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Teodorescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 65 played minutes F.C SBG DTR got a freekick which was hit by Panait Baldu. In the 75th minute of the match UMF IASI got a corner. F.C SBG DTR's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sorin Timofte ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led UMF IASI's Bogdan Chirițescu to fire away a dangerous shot which Lucian Caramitru despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of F.C SBG DTR booed when UMF IASI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corneliu Zbughină didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vali Stoican was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 80th minute. F.C SBG DTR's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Panait Baldu hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute Aurel Cotuțiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucian Caramitru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panait Baldu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Mugur Ailenei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Vali Stoican dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mugur Ailenei, 1-4. 91 minutes into the match, UMF IASI's goal looked a bit too open when Vali Stoican came free, but Mugur Ailenei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Mugur Ailenei managed to avoid a goal in the 92ndth minute, when F.C SBG DTR's Iosif Negru fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vali Stoican fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugur Ailenei having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded F.C SBG DTR left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than UMF IASI.
