The supporters of Balacia booed when Arsenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Panait Niculcea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dacian Măguran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ion Crivoi in the 13th minute of play. Dacian Măguran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ion Crivoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Ülo Lehemets showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sever Muslea in the 18th minute of the match. In the 19th minute Maxim Lechințan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ülo Lehemets saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Maxim Lechințan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arsenal's supporters rose to their feet, but Maxim Lechințan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ülo Lehemets breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dacian Măguran didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Francisc Joja went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Dacian Măguran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ion Crivoi in the 28th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Maxim Lechințan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ülo Lehemets was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Banica in the 31st minute of play forced Arsenal's goalkeeper Dacian Măguran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ionică Şoimu came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Balacia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ionică Şoimu couldn't finish the play. Maxim Lechințan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ülo Lehemets tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dacian Măguran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisc Joja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Balacia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 52 minutes, Gigel Itu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balacia and the Arsenal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Balacia's Gigel Itu got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes into the game, Arsenal's Maxim Lechințan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ülo Lehemets made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 59 minutes into the game, Sever Muslea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arsenal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balacia the free kick. The Arsenal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dacian Măguran should have stopped the shot. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Balacia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
