Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Olimpiu Remus made the kick off which started today's match. Smirna's Marin Augustin got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Smirna booed when RapidBarcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Terzian didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cornel Grigoroiu made in the 10th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Smirna's Francisc Bratu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisc Bratu in the 11th minute of play forced RapidBarcelona's goalkeeper Narcis Lucan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 11 played minutes RapidBarcelona got a freekick which was hit by Răzvan Moțoc. Narcis Lucan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucian Negulescu in the 12th minute of play. Narcis Lucan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucian Negulescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucian Negulescu scored 1-0 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Narcis Lucan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Silviu Bornescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Olimpiu Remus came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the RapidBarcelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olimpiu Remus couldn't finish the play. RapidBarcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olimpiu Remus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adrian Miroiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Narcis Lucan having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Narcis Lucan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucian Negulescu to make the kick off. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Smirna fans cheered their team off the field, for while RapidBarcelona had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
