Spectators: 7427 (Terracing: 5525, Seating: 1750, VIP seats: 152) Vlad Şimoc started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 4 played minutes Botean got a freekick which was hit by Grigore Coșereanu. Galaţi AS's Vlad Şimoc got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Vlad Şimoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute, Grigore Coșereanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Botean's Ovidiu Elian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vlad Şimoc in the 16th minute of play. Vlad Şimoc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ovidiu Elian having to interfere. Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ovidiu Elian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ovidiu Elian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vlad Şimoc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Botean's zone, Vlad Şimoc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ovidiu Elian came out of the goal and Vlad Şimoc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34thth minute of the game Vlad Şimoc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botean's Ovidiu Elian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 36th minute Vlad Şimoc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Elian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vlad Şimoc in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ovidiu Elian saved Botean from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ovidiu Elian was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Botean's Ovidiu Elian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vlad Şimoc in the 44th minute of play. After some careless play in the Botean defense, Vlad Şimoc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ovidiu Elian. The Botean fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ovidiu Elian should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A collision led to Galaţi AS getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Vlad Şimoc hit a great ball. After having played for 61 minutes, Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galaţi AS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Grigore Coșereanu hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Mugur Bulzan kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vlad Şimoc in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ovidiu Elian saved Botean from getting behind. 74 minutes into the match, Botean's goal looked a bit too open when Vlad Şimoc came free, but Ovidiu Elian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute of the match, Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ovidiu Elian was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Lucrețiu Agrigoroaiei could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Ovidiu Elian made a huge save. When Galaţi AS's Vlad Şimoc in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Botean's goalie prevented a goal. In the 83rd minute Vlad Şimoc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Elian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th match minute, Botean was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigore Coșereanu to maneuver through the defense. Grigore Coșereanu kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The Galaţi AS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Galaţi AS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
