Iulian Urducea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iulian Urducea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maxim Pop in the 25th minute of the match. The supporters of Rapid FC booed when Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horaţiu Lovinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iulian Urducea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vintilă Baldovin, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurel Ciocoiu in the 38th minute of play forced Rapid FC's goalkeeper Francisc Ţeica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucian Achifoaiei's late challenge caught a Rapid FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Francisc Ţeica made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Maxim Pop came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Iulian Urducea could save by the left post. When Lucian Achifoaiei was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 62 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Steaua Bucuresti's Lucian Achifoaiei got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Liviu Urdea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Iulian Urducea made a huge save. Aurel Ciocoiu struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Francisc Ţeica didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua Bucuresti. The crowd rose to their feet as Rapid FC's Maxim Pop slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Iulian Urducea. That made the score 1-2 after 67 minutes of play. Aurel Ciocoiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Francisc Ţeica having to make a save. 73 minutes into the match, Rapid FC's Augustin Cosoroabă sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iulian Urducea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Steaua Bucuresti's Iulian Urducea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Steaua Bucuresti from getting a goal against them. Francisc Ţeica made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurel Ciocoiu in the 81st minute of play. Aurel Ciocoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aurel Ciocoiu in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisc Ţeica saved Rapid FC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Rapid FC's zone, Aurel Ciocoiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisc Ţeica came out of the goal and Aurel Ciocoiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Steaua Bucuresti getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Valentin Iurașcu hit a great ball. Nae Popeangă lost his temper 91 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Steaua Bucuresti:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rapid FC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 93 minutes, Rapid FC's Fabian Hrib got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Iulian Urducea. Leontin Ghionaru kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Rapid FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
