Lucrețiu Meleșcanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Iustin Hârciog tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valeriu Anastasiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Lucrețiu Meleșcanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Sergiu Bungescu fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manchester United's protests and gave Sergiu Bungescu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Sergiu Bungescu hit a great ball. Ionel Maghear took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Zăgănescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Zăgănescu in the 32nd minute of play forced UFC Piluganii's goalkeeper Ionel Maghear to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcu Tănăsie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionel Maghear having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in UFC Piluganii's zone, Marcu Tănăsie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionel Maghear came out of the goal and Marcu Tănăsie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute Sebastian Zăgănescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Maghear saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Manchester United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. UFC Piluganii were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
