In the 5th minute, Martin Busuioceanu made a precise shot to the right of Iurie Lamru. Dobarceni's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Gelu Zbuchea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Rusetul getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Albert Corvin hit a great ball. Adam Lepuș struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Adrian Grămescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dobarceni. Alexandru Galiceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Grămescu having to interfere. Daniel Grecu charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Grecu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Rusetul booed when Dobarceni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Grecu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pompiliu Penescu struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Iurie Lamru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rusetul. Rusetul's Adrian Grămescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gelu Zbuchea in the 28th minute of play. Alexandru Galiceanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Adrian Grămescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rusetul's Adrian Grămescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gelu Zbuchea in the 34th minute of play. When Pompiliu Penescu came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Rusetul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pompiliu Penescu couldn't finish the play. If Martin Busuioceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Rusetul booed when Dobarceni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gelu Zbuchea didn't get a good kick on the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gelu Zbuchea made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Rusetul's goalkeeper Adrian Grămescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandru Galiceanu. A collision led to Rusetul getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Albert Corvin hit a great ball. In the 60th minute, Martin Busuioceanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iurie Lamru was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gelu Zbuchea in the 63rd minute of play forced Rusetul's goalkeeper Adrian Grămescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandru Galiceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Grămescu having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rusetul's Niculae Floruțiu got a free kick in the 71st minute. Iurie Lamru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pompiliu Penescu in the 76th minute of the match. In the 78th minute Pompiliu Penescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iurie Lamru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Dobarceni's goalkeeper Iurie Lamru, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Alexandru Galiceanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 94 minutes, Pompiliu Penescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rusetul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pompiliu Penescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
