The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes FC Retezatul Hateg got a freekick which was hit by Ioan Perișoară. Nae Tadici didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ionuț Manolescu went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Emilian Bălanescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Nae Tadici tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 8th minute, Aristide Brânzeu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 9 minutes into the match, Gloria Buzău's Șerban Balaeț broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Nae Tadici showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionuț Manolescu in the 16th minute of the match. Emilian Bălanescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nae Tadici having to interfere. After 19 played minutes Gloria Buzău got a freekick which was hit by Francisc Isăcescu. 28 minutes into the match, FC Retezatul Hateg's goal looked a bit too open when Marian Bitănescu came free, but Nae Tadici reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Retezatul Hateg's Nae Tadici played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilian Bălanescu in the 33rd minute of play. If Luca Horea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute Ionuț Manolescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Tadici saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nae Tadici didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emilian Bălanescu went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Emilian Bălanescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nae Tadici was relentless in the 46th minute of the game.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luca Horea made a kick off. FC Retezatul Hateg's Nae Tadici proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save FC Retezatul Hateg from getting a goal against them. In the 52nd minute, Calistrat Ştef fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Ionuț Manolescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nae Tadici came out and tried to block the shot, but Ionuț Manolescu slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 54th minute. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Retezatul Hateg's goalkeeper Nae Tadici, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ionuț Manolescu got free with Nae Tadici in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute, Emilian Bălanescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marcu Dobrotă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Butuc having to interfere. Nae Tadici took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calistrat Ştef, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nae Tadici made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emilian Bălanescu in the 71st minute of play. The supporters of FC Retezatul Hateg booed when Gloria Buzău was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ionuț Manolescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilian Bălanescu in the 77th minute of play forced FC Retezatul Hateg's goalkeeper Nae Tadici to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Ionuț Manolescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gloria Buzău fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. 84 minutes into the game, FC Retezatul Hateg's Luca Horea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ciprian Butuc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. Luca Horea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Butuc having to interfere. After 92 minutes, Șerban Balaeț mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gloria Buzău and the FC Retezatul Hateg players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd minute of the match Cătălin Hristea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ciprian Butuc showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilian Bălanescu in the 95th minute of play forced FC Retezatul Hateg's goalkeeper Nae Tadici to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Emilian Bălanescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Tadici saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Gloria Buzău supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gloria Buzău would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
