Paiuseni's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Codrin Magherescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Nistor Brătescu struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Dacian Gurzău didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ASU Poli Timisoara. When Petrică Bucuță fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paiuseni's protests and gave Petrică Bucuță a yellow card for diving instead. 19 minutes into the game, one of Paiuseni:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Paiuseni:s Dacian Gurzău showed great skill when he stopped Bogdan Isbășoiu:s penalty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Petcu got free with Mugur Zărnescu in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute, Nistor Brătescu made a precise shot to the right of Dacian Gurzău. Paiuseni's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The audience was convinced that Nistor Brătescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dacian Gurzău was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iacob Vâlcu to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, ASU Poli Timisoara's Remus Berceanu got a free kick in the 51st minute. 54 minutes into the match, ASU Poli Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Iacob Vâlcu came free, but Mugur Zărnescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandu Codru kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Paiuseni's goalkeeper Dacian Gurzău, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mugur Zărnescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iacob Vâlcu in the 82nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emil Tache in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mugur Zărnescu saved ASU Poli Timisoara from getting behind. Romeo Petcu hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Dacian Gurzău stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Codrin Magherescu's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. A collision led to Paiuseni getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Romeo Petcu hit a great ball. In the 94th minute Nistor Brătescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Gurzău saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
