Avram Colceriu scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sabin Tutunaru, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Călin Buricea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Claudiu Mirciulescu made a huge save. Cutberto Reina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute, Leontin Todoran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sabin Tutunaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorin Onuț in the 30th minute of the match. In the 31st match minute, Rapid București 1923 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iosif Jienescu to maneuver through the defense. Horea Bleoancă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Narcis Ciompec made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Dick Majman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Călin Buricea in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claudiu Mirciulescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Călin Buricea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horea Bleoancă in the 66th minute of play forced FCU 1948 CRAIOVA's goalkeeper Claudiu Mirciulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Rapid București 1923 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching FCU 1948 CRAIOVA's performance. The match ended with a win for FCU 1948 CRAIOVA.
