Vali Pușcașu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cezar Joja having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, FCSB Steaua's goal looked a bit too open when Petruț Tătăruşanu came free, but Cezar Joja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute, Basarab Panțâru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bulaia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Dorel Petriceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FCSB Steaua's supporters rose to their feet, but Dorel Petriceanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Chiose breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 34 minutes into the game, Basarab Panțâru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bulaia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FCSB Steaua the free kick. A collision led to Bulaia getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Basarab Panțâru hit a great ball. 35 minutes into the match, Mihăiţă Gologan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Emanuel Chiose, 1-2. The FCSB Steaua players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bulaia were winning 1-2.

When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Dorel Petriceanu sped through Bulaia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emanuel Chiose. FCSB Steaua's Mihăiţă Gologan got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emanuel Chiose showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihăiţă Gologan, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After 67 played minutes FCSB Steaua got a freekick which was hit by Corneliu Carabulea. Corneliu Carabulea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Chiose having to interfere. If Dorel Petriceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FCSB Steaua fully deserved thier win.
