Spectators: 7677 (Terracing: 5758, Seating: 1766, VIP seats: 153) Varsand's Cosmin Nenițescu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gheorghe Ţopescu's late challenge caught a Varsand's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gheorghe Ţopescu helped the player get up and apologised. Marin Stoicu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Pitiș, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Dacian Săvulescu took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marin Stoicu. Marin Stoicu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 14th minute Panait Unciuleanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marin Stoicu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marin Stoicu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dacian Săvulescu in the 19th minute of play. Marin Stoicu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Panait Unciuleanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 27 minutes into the game, George Pitiș cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Marin Stoicu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Pârvuță in the 32nd minute of play forced Varsand's goalkeeper Marin Stoicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Steaua Somcuta MM getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Aurelian Chira hit a great ball. Dacian Săvulescu scored 0-5 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marin Stoicu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Matei Rotariu made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Lucian Posteucă sent off a good shot on target. After 47 played minutes Varsand got a freekick which was hit by Gică Săvoiu. 48 minutes into the match, Steaua Somcuta MM's Iacob Prisecaru broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Pitiș to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dacian Săvulescu got free with Marin Stoicu in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Varsand's Lucian Răduța got a free kick in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dacian Săvulescu in the 58th minute of play forced Varsand's goalkeeper Marin Stoicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marin Stoicu was a little too slow when George Pitiș got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 0-6. Cosmin Nenițescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Dorel Aaxiniei left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varsand fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Varsand's defense didn't have a chance, in the 73rd minute, when Panait Unciuleanu scored to the left of an out of position Marin Stoicu, making the score, 1-7. Leontin Zdrehuş charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leontin Zdrehuş the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 75 played minutes Steaua Somcuta MM got a freekick which was hit by Leontin Zdrehuş. In the 80th minute, Steaua Somcuta MM's Panait Unciuleanu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marin Stoicu. Marin Stoicu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-8. Marin Stoicu made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Panait Unciuleanu sent off a good shot on target. Marin Stoicu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Pitiș, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Panait Unciuleanu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Steaua Somcuta MM fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-9. In the 96th minute, Bogdan Bodnar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. George Pitiș's late challenge caught a Varsand's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. George Pitiș helped the player get up and apologised. After 98 played minutes Steaua Somcuta MM got a freekick which was hit by George Pitiș.
