Spectators: 7828 (Terracing: 5872, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 156) Steaua Somcuta MM's George Pitiș started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Steaua Somcuta MM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gheorghe Ţopescu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Steaua Somcuta MM's Gheorghe Ţopescu got a free kick in the 5th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Sandu Arvinte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sterpoaia CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Sandu Arvinte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matei Rotariu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Steaua Somcuta MM's Matei Rotariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iacob Turcescu in the 11th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Octav Isvoreanu notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Steaua Somcuta MM's Matei Rotariu. Matei Rotariu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Valeriu Povară took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matei Rotariu. Matei Rotariu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 25th minute, Valeriu Povară left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sterpoaia CS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valeriu Povară in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matei Rotariu saved Steaua Somcuta MM from getting behind. Matei Rotariu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valeriu Povară, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steaua Somcuta MM's Matei Rotariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iacob Turcescu in the 36th minute of play. After 38 minutes of play, Sterpoaia CS's Octav Isvoreanu made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Matei Rotariu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Matei Rotariu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octav Isvoreanu in the 44th minute of the match. When Sterpoaia CS's Octav Isvoreanu in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Steaua Somcuta MM's goalie prevented a goal. The wind increased when Valeriu Povară made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Octav Isvoreanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matei Rotariu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sterpoaia CS getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Mark Sävström hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Steaua Somcuta MM's goalkeeper Matei Rotariu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iacob Turcescu. Matei Rotariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valeriu Povară in the 61st minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Sterpoaia CS's goal looked a bit too open when George Pitiș came free, but Frederick Kallquist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matei Rotariu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valeriu Povară's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Matei Rotariu made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Iacob Turcescu sent off a good shot on target. Sandu Arvinte struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Matei Rotariu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sterpoaia CS. In the 77th play minute Valeriu Povară came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Matei Rotariu. 0-7. Matei Rotariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valeriu Povară in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th match minute, Steaua Somcuta MM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leontin Zdrehuş to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute, Sterpoaia CS's Valeriu Povară ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Matei Rotariu. Matei Rotariu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. In the 88th minute, Steaua Somcuta MM's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Iacob Turcescu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Matei Rotariu came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Sterpoaia CS's Iacob Turcescu. But to his dismay, Iacob Turcescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-10. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mark Sävström during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Sterpoaia CS getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Mark Sävström hit a great ball. The Sterpoaia CS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sterpoaia CS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
