Spectators: 7447 (Terracing: 5500, Seating: 1797, VIP seats: 150) Olimpia FC's Stelian Buzoianu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Luis Argider was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olimpia FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Old Boys the free kick. In the 2nd minute, Luis Argider hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 4th minute, Mugur Ghionaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Old Boys fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Mugur Ghionaru scored 0-2 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Belaid Nabil, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Stelian Buzoianu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Edvin van der Saar made a huge save. Nistor Zdroană recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Laurențiu Iovulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Sebastian Ignătoiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edvin van der Saar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emmanuel Obis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Flavius Nebunu might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Belaid Nabil. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flavius Nebunu ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emmanuel Obis during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After the first half Old Boys were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emilian Agrigoroaiei to make the kick off. Mihnea Culcer hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Flavius Nebunu kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Severo Obano charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Severo Obano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Old Boys booed when Olimpia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severo Obano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edvin van der Saar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emmanuel Obis, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 64 minutes into the match, Olimpia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Emilian Agrigoroaiei came free, but Belaid Nabil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emilian Agrigoroaieis short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Belaid Nabil to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Edvin van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stelian Buzoianu in the 73rd minute of play. Belaid Nabil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emilian Agrigoroaiei in the 76th minute. In the 78th minute, Augustin Bratoloveanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edvin van der Saar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emmanuel Obis in the 80th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, Stelian Buzoianu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edvin van der Saar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The Olimpia FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Old Boys to win.
