Felix Angheluță took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Grigore Sfetcu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vali Dragotescu in the 8th minute of play forced Universitatea Cluj's goalkeeper Dan Ciuhandu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Adrian Barascu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oltul Slatina's Felix Angheluță was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cătălin Gârniceanu during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, one of Oltul Slatina:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Oltul Slatina. The referee gave Universitatea Cluj a penalty, 18 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sebastian Vâlcu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Oltul Slatina's Felix Angheluță. 0-1. After 20 played minutes Oltul Slatina got a freekick which was hit by Valeriu Curcă. Sebastian Vâlcu's late challenge caught a Oltul Slatina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastian Vâlcu helped the player get up and apologised. Universitatea Cluj:s Dan Ciuhandu showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Maftei:s penalty. Dan Ciuhandu came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Oltul Slatina's Daniel Maftei. But to his dismay, Daniel Maftei quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 34th minute Universitatea Cluj were awarded a corner. Sebastian Vâlcu went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 36th minute of the match Universitatea Cluj got a corner. Oltul Slatina's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sebastian Vâlcu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Claudiu Haidău recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 38th minute, Cătălin Gârniceanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Grigore Sfetcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 42 minutes into the match, Panait Alamaru had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Felix Angheluță. Oltul Slatina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Panait Alamaru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Vali Dragotescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oltul Slatina's supporters rose to their feet, but Vali Dragotescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dan Ciuhandu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Grigore Sfetcu was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Universitatea Cluj's Emil Stănciulaş got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Dan Ciuhandu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vlad Madgearu went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Nicu Stănilă's late challenge caught a Oltul Slatina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicu Stănilă helped the player get up and apologised. Nicu Stănilă kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Universitatea Cluj's goalkeeper Dan Ciuhandu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dan Ciuhandu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vlad Madgearu in the 66th minute of the match. The supporters of Universitatea Cluj booed when Oltul Slatina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurențiu Bălașa didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Oltul Slatina getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Laurențiu Bălașa hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Oltul Slatina got a freekick which was hit by Cristinel Zbârlea. When Valeriu Curcă fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oltul Slatina's protests and gave Valeriu Curcă a yellow card for diving instead. Valeriu Curcă kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Dan Ciuhandu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vlad Madgearu in the 85th minute of the match. In the 86th minute, Nicu Vâtcă hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Vlad Madgearu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oltul Slatina's supporters rose to their feet, but Vlad Madgearu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Grigore Sfetcu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Felix Angheluță when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Nicu Stănilă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Felix Angheluță tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Universitatea Cluj were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Oltul Slatina to leave the ground with a draw.
