Grigore Sfetcu scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Narcis Murgescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Basil's Narcis Murgescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Barascu in the 10th minute of play. Narcis Murgescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grigore Sfetcu in the 11th minute of the match. Grigore Sfetcu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the match, Adrian Barascu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Narcis Murgescu. Basil's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Barascu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 18 minutes into the match, Claudiu Haidău had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Narcis Murgescu. In the 22nd minute, Basil's Dragoş Elenescu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dan Ciuhandu. In the 30th match minute, Universitatea Cluj was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emil Stănciulaş to maneuver through the defense. Narcis Murgescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Barascu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Narcis Murgescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Barascu in the 34th minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Adrian Barascu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Narcis Murgescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Basil's Dragoş Elenescu got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, Universitatea Cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Dragoş Elenescu came free, but Dan Ciuhandu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Costin Nițisor let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 46th minute shot 2-5 at rihgt post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-5 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Grigore Sfetcu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Basil's Narcis Murgescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigore Sfetcu in the 52nd minute of play. After 54 minutes of play, Universitatea Cluj's Adrian Barascu made it 2-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Narcis Murgescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Adrian Barascu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Narcis Murgescu made a huge save. Dan Ciuhandu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Zbughină in the 70th minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Basil's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Barascu came free, but Narcis Murgescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 77 minutes into the game, when Marcel Stănciulescu put in a rough tackle. Dan Ciuhandu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rareș Isărescu in the 79th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Grigore Sfetcu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Narcis Murgescu. That made the score 2-8 in the 80 minute of play. Adrian Barascu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Narcis Murgescu made a huge save. Panait Alamaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86thth minute of the game Adrian Barascu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Basil's Narcis Murgescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Panait Alamaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 91st minute, Grigore Sfetcu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Narcis Murgescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-9. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adrian Barascu got free with Narcis Murgescu in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Basil getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Rareș Isărescu hit a great ball. When the final whistle sounded Universitatea Cluj left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Basil.
