Spectators: 7711 (Terracing: 5785, Seating: 1773, VIP seats: 153) ITA Arad's Victor Dobrotă started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristi Velicu during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Filip Ignătescu came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the CSA Steaua Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filip Ignătescu couldn't finish the play. 9 minutes into the match, ITA Arad's goalkeeper Claudiu Cezar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Ignătescu. A collision led to ITA Arad getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Victor Ababei hit a great ball. If Dacian Vrabie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute, Emilian Răţescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Victor Dobrotă put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Sever Târban. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Victor Dobrotă managed to get in a good position for a shot. ITA Arad's supporters rose to their feet, but Victor Dobrotă was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sever Târban breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of ITA Arad booed when CSA Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihail Borcea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sever Târban stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Dobrotă's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dacian Vrabie in the 25th minute of play forced CSA Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Sever Târban to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sever Târban came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by ITA Arad's Victor Dobrotă. But to his dismay, Victor Dobrotă quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 34 minutes, Victor Dobrotă made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. CSA Steaua Bucuresti's Sever Târban tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Dobrotă in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sever Târban saved CSA Steaua Bucuresti from getting behind. Eusebiu Popic hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After having played for 39 minutes, Victor Dobrotă managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ITA Arad's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victor Dobrotă was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sever Târban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergiu Cerchez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sever Târban showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Dobrotă, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Paul Ipate sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Victor Dobrotă took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sever Târban. Sever Târban dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. After the first half ITA Arad were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Costin Petrescu made the kick off in the second half. If Sergiu Cerchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the match, CSA Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Dobrotă came free, but Sever Târban reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victor Dobrotă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sever Târban having to interfere. Sever Târban stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Dobrotă's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. 62 minutes into the game, Victor Dobrotă lined in a short shot 0-6 behind a frustrated Sever Târban. Sever Târban made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Victor Dobrotă sent off a good shot on target. Sever Târban stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Dobrotă's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. After having played for 73 minutes, Paul Ipate managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ITA Arad's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paul Ipate was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sergiu Cerchez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sever Târban made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Dobrotă in the 80th minute of play. Victor Dobrotă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sever Târban having to interfere. Victor Dobrotăs short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Sever Târban to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sever Târban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Dobrotă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dacian Vrabie got free with Sever Târban in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded ITA Arad left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than CSA Steaua Bucuresti.
