The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Eusebiu Covrig hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Nechifor Hurmuz took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernest Isbășoiu. Pompiliu Eftimiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Frunză having to interfere. Marcel Frunză showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pompiliu Eftimiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Jiul Petrosani's Ernest Isbășoiu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Jiul Petrosani from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice moves Petre Bărbuceanu could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Ernest Isbășoiu however easily saved by the left post. Ioan Nuțu charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ioan Nuțu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Jiul Petrosani's Ioan Nuțu got a free kick in the 45th minute.

52 minutes into the game, Paul Achiriloaie was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jiul Petrosani's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GLADIATORII the free kick. Ernest Isbășoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petre Bărbuceanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. GLADIATORII's Nechifor Hurmuz got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 60th minute, Viorel Irod made a precise shot to the right of Ernest Isbășoiu. Jiul Petrosani's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nechifor Hurmuz in the 65th minute of play forced Jiul Petrosani's goalkeeper Ernest Isbășoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Daniel Pantelimon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ernest Isbășoiu. Jiul Petrosani's Ernest Isbășoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petre Bărbuceanu in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Daniel Pantelimon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ernest Isbășoiu was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. After a rather tough play, Jiul Petrosani's Paul Achiriloaie got a free kick in the 82nd minute. After some careless play in the Jiul Petrosani defense, Daniel Pantelimon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernest Isbășoiu. The Jiul Petrosani fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernest Isbășoiu should have stopped the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Viorel Irod notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Jiul Petrosani's Ernest Isbășoiu. Ernest Isbășoiu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ernest Isbășoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viorel Irod, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After 95 minutes of play, GLADIATORII's Nechifor Hurmuz made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernest Isbășoiu was left in no man's land by his defense there! It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. GLADIATORII had played much better football throughout.
