GLADIATORII's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aron Daria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romeo Noica during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Varbilau getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Romeo Noica hit a great ball. Marcel Frunză made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aron Daria in the 9th minute of play. Viorel Irod fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toader Hojbota having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Viorel Irod reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Toader Hojbota. The goal made the score 1-1. After a rather tough play, GLADIATORII's Mihnea Enache got a free kick in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Lucrețiu in the 27th minute of play forced GLADIATORII's goalkeeper Marcel Frunză to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32ndth minute of the game Viorel Irod who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varbilau's Toader Hojbota was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nechifor Hurmuz got free with Toader Hojbota in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 40 minutes into the match, Varbilau's goalkeeper Toader Hojbota had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nechifor Hurmuz. The crowd rose to their feet as Viorel Irod kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Toader Hojbota. That made the score 2-2 in the 42 minute of play. GLADIATORII's Marcel Frunză played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Călin Lucrețiu in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

GLADIATORII's Nechifor Hurmuz got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Toader Hojbota prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 90th minute there was a penalty for Varbilau. Adrian Boeru stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Marcel Frunză. 3-3. Viorel Irod sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aron Daria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Frunză having to interfere. Varbilau succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though GLADIATORII had controlled the match.
