Mihail Dăianu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cosmin Alexiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Through an outstanding action, after 10 minutes, Mugur Logofeteanu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Codruț Necula hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 15 minutes into the match, Gimbas's goalkeeper Mugur Logofeteanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marin Boroș. Șerban Cioacă struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Ronaldinho Sanchez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimbas. Cosmin Alexiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gimbas's Mugur Logofeteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Gimbas from getting a goal against them. Gimbas's Șerban Cioacă got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mugur Logofeteanu was a little too slow when Leonard Nistor got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 35th minute. The score was now 1-1. The supporters of Gimbas booed when DOROBANTII was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petre Băncilă didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute of the match, Petre Băncilă tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mugur Logofeteanu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Mugur Logofeteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Nistor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd match minute, Gimbas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horaţiu Neculuță to maneuver through the defense. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Șerban Cioacă to make the kick off. When Petre Băncilă fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DOROBANTII's protests and gave Petre Băncilă a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of DOROBANTII:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gimbas:s goal. DOROBANTII:s Ronaldinho Sanchez showed great skill when he stopped Sorin Zdrobiş:s penalty. Ronaldinho Sanchez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sorin Zdrobiş went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Mugur Logofeteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marin Boroș in the 60th minute of play. After a rather tough play, DOROBANTII's Marin Boroș got a free kick in the 68th minute. 71 minutes in the game, Mihail Dăianu fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ronaldinho Sanchez having to interfere. Gimbas's Mugur Logofeteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonard Nistor in the 76th minute of play. After recieving a nice pass, Gimbas's Sorin Zdrobiş tried to score from far away in the 92nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Mugur Logofeteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonard Nistor in the 95th minute of play. The supporters of Gimbas booed when DOROBANTII was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Chirtoacă didn't get a good kick on the ball.
