Horaţiu Neculuță took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Niculae Petriceanu. Niculae Petriceanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Cosmin Alexiu struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Șerban Cioacă to make the kick off. After having played for 55 minutes, Șerban Cioacă managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimbas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Șerban Cioacă was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 57 minutes into the game, Gimbas's Mihail Dăianu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laurențiu Teodor helped the player get up and apologised. After 65 played minutes Smizi got a freekick which was hit by Laurențiu Teodor. Șerban Cioacă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niculae Petriceanu having to interfere. After some careless play in the Gimbas defense, Costin Moga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mugur Logofeteanu. The Gimbas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mugur Logofeteanu should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Sergiu Bota took a quick shot and it went in 2-5 without a chance for Mugur Logofeteanu to make any attempt to save it. Although Gimbas had been in control for most of the match, Smizi still came away with the win.
