Șerban Ghițulescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Hami Geçer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Cristian Ploieșteanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Steaua Bucuresti's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Ploieșteanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mathias Munggaran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Ploieșteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mathias Munggaran made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Cristian Ploieșteanu sent off a good shot on target. Steaua Bucuresti's Roel Meertens was substituted for Doru Dănănae. Cristian Ploieșteanu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 84th minute.
