The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ciprian Uncescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeo Chelaru in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Ţurlău saved Brazesti from getting behind. Iosif Raţiu struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Ciprian Uncescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brazesti. 17 minutes into the match, Codrin Bidulescu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ciprian Uncescu. MZ Rapid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Codrin Bidulescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 20 played minutes Brazesti got a freekick which was hit by Eduard Cornoiu. MZ Rapid's Ciprian Uncescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicu Câmpeanu in the 23rd minute of play. Romeo Chelaru in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gabriel Ţurlău, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Iosif Raţiu hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. When Petru Huștea came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the MZ Rapid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petru Huștea couldn't finish the play. Vintilă Luncanu hit a great ball. Romeo Chelaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gabriel Ţurlău showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeo Chelaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iosif Codin during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brazesti's goalkeeper Gabriel Ţurlău, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Codrin Bidulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Uncescu having to interfere. When Aurel Bercea fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MZ Rapid's protests and gave Aurel Bercea a yellow card for diving instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
