An unexpectedly hard shot by Karol Czempa in the 2nd minute of play forced F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's goalkeeper Eugen Curtean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But to his dismay, Vasile Blănaru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 9th match minute, Progresul Pitesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horaţiu Coșeriu to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's goalkeeper Eugen Curtean, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eugen Curtean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karol Czempa in the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Karol Czempa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Progresul Pitesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's goalkeeper Eugen Curtean, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 32 minutes of play, Progresul Pitesti's Vasile Blănaru made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eugen Curtean was left in no man's land by his defense there! F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's Eugen Curtean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasile Blănaru in the 35th minute of play. Mehmet Ali Ergönül might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Tudor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehmet Ali Ergönül ran back to his position shaking his head. Vasile Blănaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Curtean having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's zone, Vasile Blănaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugen Curtean came out of the goal and Vasile Blănaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karol Czempa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Curtean having to interfere. Karol Czempa scored 0-5 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eugen Curtean, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Karol Czempa scored 0-6 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eugen Curtean, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Progresul Pitesti were leading 0-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maksymilian Traczewski to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasile Blănaru got free with Eugen Curtean in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 61st minute of the match, Karol Czempa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eugen Curtean saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 62 minutes F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ezkerra Villasana who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Progresul Pitesti's corner Vasile Blănaru fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eugen Curtean quite easily take care of the ball. F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's defense didn't have a chance, in the 64th minute, when Karol Czempa scored to the left of an out of position Eugen Curtean, making the score, 0-7. 67 minutes into the match, F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's goal looked a bit too open when Karol Czempa came free, but Eugen Curtean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eugen Curtean made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Vasile Blănaru sent off a good shot on target. Martin Tudor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maksymilian Traczewski in the 71st minute of the match. F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Progresul Pitesti's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gheorghe Vermeşan took the corner. 75 minutes into the match, Vasile Blănaru had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eugen Curtean. F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vasile Blănaru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. A collision led to F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Corneliu Cioacă hit a great ball. 88 minutes into the match, F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's goal looked a bit too open when Karol Czempa came free, but Eugen Curtean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 90 played minutes F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Ali Ergönül. In the 92nd minute Vasile Blănaru suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Corneliu Cioacă during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI's Corneliu Cioacă got a free kick in the 92nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Qiao Cheng in the 95th minute of play forced Progresul Pitesti's goalkeeper Martin Tudor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The F.C. STEAUA BUCURESTI fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Progresul Pitesti were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
