Mircea Mitulescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karol Czempa's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Biraoni's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Florin Logofătu was slow to take the kick. During this time Progresul Pitesti's players had a chance to rest. Vasile Blănaru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mircea Mitulescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Biraoni's Martin Tudor threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Reynaldo Leite, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Mircea Mitulescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vasile Blănaru went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Karol Czempa came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Progresul Pitesti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karol Czempa couldn't finish the play. Radu Enache's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Martin Tudor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Mircea Mitulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karol Czempa in the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Vasile Blănaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Progresul Pitesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Vintilă Marinică helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Progresul Pitesti getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Vintilă Marinică hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Karol Czempa sped through Biraoni's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mircea Mitulescu. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Mircea Mitulescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Progresul Pitesti's Karol Czempa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mircea Mitulescu. That made the score 0-7 after 66 minutes of play. Biraoni's Mugur Postolache was substituted for Martin Pătrășconiu. A sloppy throw-in by Florin Logofătu in the 75th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Biraoni's Mugur Postolache. Progresul Pitesti's Karol Czempa got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chorache Tofiño succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-8 in the 81st playminute. After 84 minutes of play, Progresul Pitesti's Vasile Blănaru made it 0-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mircea Mitulescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Progresul Pitesti's Karol Czempa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mircea Mitulescu. That made the score 0-10 after 89 minutes of play. 92 minutes into the match, Biraoni's goalkeeper Mircea Mitulescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vasile Blănaru. Karol Czempa was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Progresul Pitesti's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 95th match minute, Biraoni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isac Rogoz to maneuver through the defense.
