After 9 minutes Fc Universitatea Cluj's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ştefan Antoniu who took care of the corner kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Manciu in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernest Inculeț saved Fc Universitatea Cluj from getting behind. After 19 minutes of play, Fc Universitatea Cluj's Sever Tomulescu made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fryderyk Olchawa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Emanuel Pancus short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Ernest Inculeț to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice moves Ismael Lucas could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Ernest Inculeț however easily saved by the left post. In the 33rd minute of the match Tottenham de ROMANIA got a corner. Fc Universitatea Cluj's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ştefan Antoniu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kauno Joensuu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Inculeț having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. David Manciu was the one to do the kick off.
