Irinel Ghioane came free with the goalkeeper in the 5th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nicolae Ghiorman could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, Caciulesti's Petrică Leluțiu got a free kick in the 18th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zafer Fırat in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cornel Banu saved Caciulesti from getting behind. Poli AEK's Nicolae Ghiorman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johan Ivarsson in the 26th minute of play. After 27 played minutes Poli AEK got a freekick which was hit by Dan Balint. 30 minutes into the match, Poli AEK's goal looked a bit too open when Petrică Leluțiu came free, but Nicolae Ghiorman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johan Ivarsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Nicolae Ghiorman made a huge save. In the 38th minute Petrică Leluțiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolae Ghiorman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicolae Ghiorman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ovidiu Șora, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wictor Brovall made a kick off. After 50 played minutes Caciulesti got a freekick which was hit by Johan Ivarsson. Poli AEK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Chen Xiao Yan in the 53rd minute. Cornel Banu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramiro Vargas in the 54th minute. Nicolae Ghiorman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Irinel Ghioane in the 56th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Zonta during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
