After a defensive mix-up in Romania's zone, Sebastian Bărbulescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leontin Racoviceanu came out of the goal and Sebastian Bărbulescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebastian Bărbulescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Leontin Racoviceanu made a huge save. Olimpic Sibiu's Mihail Atanasiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pompiliu Tomoioagă in the 7th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pompiliu Tomoioagă in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihail Atanasiu saved Olimpic Sibiu from getting behind. Pompiliu Tomoioagă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dinu Nișu in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leontin Racoviceanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Pompiliu Tomoioagă's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mihail Atanasiu was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Dinu Nișu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leontin Racoviceanu having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Mait Mäidu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Leontin Racoviceanu. The goal made the score 2-0. Mihail Atanasiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pompiliu Tomoioagă in the 30th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Olimpic Sibiu's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Şerb came free, but Mihail Atanasiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute, Dinu Nișu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leontin Racoviceanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mait Mäidu, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After some careless play in the Romania defense, Sebastian Bărbulescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leontin Racoviceanu. The Romania fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leontin Racoviceanu should have stopped the shot. Laurențiu Meleșcanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 94 minutes, Sebastian Bărbulescu made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Romania's Leontin Racoviceanu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Olimpic Sibiu had won after a very even match.
