A collision led to UFC STEAUA getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Rafet Faydalı hit a great ball. After 13 minutes of play, Caciulesti's Petrică Leluțiu made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Massa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Johan Ivarsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Irinel Ghioane received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. João Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mugur Basarabescu's late challenge caught a Caciulesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mugur Basarabescu helped the player get up and apologised. Mugur Basarabescu kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Irinel Ghioanes short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got João Massa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The supporters of UFC STEAUA booed when Caciulesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irinel Ghioane didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caciulesti's Cornel Banu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Caciulesti from getting a goal against them. In the 54th minute Irinel Ghioane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caciulesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. Nistor Fenici's late challenge caught a Caciulesti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Petrică Leluțiu in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Massa saved UFC STEAUA from getting behind. João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 钱沙挺, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caciulesti's Cornel Banu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Caciulesti from getting a goal against them. After 72 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Mugur Basarabescu. 73 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Irinel Ghioane came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Massa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Petrică Leluțiu during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 96th match minute, Caciulesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petrică Leluțiu to maneuver through the defense.
