After some careless play in the Ionut defense, Vintilă Logofătu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicu Micescu. The Ionut fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicu Micescu should have stopped the shot. In the 25th minute Sabin Ştirbu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicu Micescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Hoghiz getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Paul Zdrăilă hit a great ball. If Sabin Ştirbu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Ionut's goal looked a bit too open when Ilie Cândreanu came free, but Nicu Micescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sabin Ştirbu scored 0-2 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicu Micescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicu Micescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vintilă Logofătu in the 43rd minute of play. When Nae Adam fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ionut's protests and gave Nae Adam a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, Nae Adam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Ilie Cândreanu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicu Micescu having to make a save. Vintilă Logofătu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicu Micescu having to interfere. Romeo Agrigoroaiei hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Alin Berechet sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ionut's Nicu Micescu didn't even have to move. Alin Iureș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severiano Bastian having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ilie Cândreanu in the 74th minute of play forced Ionut's goalkeeper Nicu Micescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute Sorin Prunaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severiano Bastian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicu Micescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sabin Ştirbu in the 78th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Ilie Cândreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hoghiz's supporters rose to their feet, but Ilie Cândreanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicu Micescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sabin Ştirbu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Nicu Micescu made a huge save. 89 minutes into the match, Hoghiz's goal looked a bit too open when Sorin Prunaru came free, but Severiano Bastian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Severiano Bastian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rareș Răuţă in the 93rd minute of the match. When the match was over Hoghiz could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ionut throughout the match.
