Iordache Băncilă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tudor Cînu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Álvaro Rodríguez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iordache Băncilă made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Álvaro Rodríguez got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iordache Băncilă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tudor Cînu in the 34th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the game, one of FC STEAUA BUCURESTI:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 45 minutes into the game, FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's Tudor Cînu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iordache Băncilă made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. After the first half FC STEAUA BUCURESTI were leading 1-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leonard Luican to strike the kick off in the second half. Gigel Nicolaescu kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Virgil Dănilă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narcis Vermeşan in the 59th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tudor Cînu in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iordache Băncilă saved Strimbulici SC from getting behind. Strimbulici SC's Iordache Băncilă proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Strimbulici SC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonard Luican in the 70th minute of play forced FC STEAUA BUCURESTI's goalkeeper Virgil Dănilă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 71st minute, Tudor Cînu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iordache Băncilă was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-8. Tudor Cînu took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Iordache Băncilă. Iordache Băncilă dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-9. After 83 played minutes Albert Vestlund rounded Strimbulici SC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-10. After 88 minutes, Gigel Nicolaescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Strimbulici SC and the FC STEAUA BUCURESTI players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Albert Vestlund took a quick shot and it went in 1-11 without a chance for Iordache Băncilă to make any attempt to save it. In the 95th minute, Gláuber dos Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
