A beautiful save bye Atalanta's goalie prevented a goal. 6 minutes into the match, Unirea Castelul Nou's goal looked a bit too open when Nae Nedelciu came free, but Herbert Wierzchowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Unirea Castelul Nou's Emanuel Geambașu threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adrian Cernat, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Emanuel Geambașu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Cernat in the 14th minute of play. Bastiaan Moorlag's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 15thth minute, Emanuel Geambașu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Unirea Castelul Nou's Bastiaan Moorlag in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 6-0 when Bastiaan Moorlag sped through Atalanta's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emanuel Geambașu. Emanuel Geambașu made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Bastiaan Moorlag sent off a good shot on target. After 39 played minutes Atalanta got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Blejan. Atalanta's Emanuel Geambașu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Cernat in the 48th minute of play. In the 49th minute of the match Unirea Castelul Nou got a corner. Atalanta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adrian Cernat ran over to the corner to take the kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bastiaan Moorlag was the one to do the kick off. Adrian Cernat took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emanuel Geambașu. Emanuel Geambașu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. Emanuel Geambașu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bastiaan Moorlag went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. Adrian Cernat scored 11-0 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emanuel Geambașu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 79 minutes into the match, Atalanta's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Cernat came free, but Emanuel Geambașu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emanuel Geambașu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Cernat, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. A collision led to Atalanta getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Cosmin Blejan hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Cernat in the 82nd minute of play forced Atalanta's goalkeeper Emanuel Geambașu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unirea Castelul Nou were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Atalanta's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Adrian Cernat took the corner. 87 minutes into the match, Adrian Cernat notched a goal, 12-0, to the right of Atalanta's Emanuel Geambașu. Emanuel Geambașu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adrian Cernat in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emanuel Geambașu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Emanuel Geambașu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrian Cernat in the 92nd minute of the match. Adrian Cernat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emanuel Geambașu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. After some careless play in the Atalanta defense, Mugur Răduțu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emanuel Geambașu. The Atalanta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emanuel Geambașu should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that Unirea Castelul Nou were the better team. Unirea Castelul Nou's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
