In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Eagles Sibiu fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 5th minute. Penalty! Ferdinand Amurăriței had in the 7thth minute some difficulties stopping Nechifor Calini's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Ferdinand Amurăriței came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by C.s.s. Zalau's Nechifor Calini. But to his dismay, Nechifor Calini quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. FC Eagles Sibiu's Ferdinand Amurăriței played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Bogatu in the 11th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Denis Mănescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Eagles Sibiu's supporters rose to their feet, but Denis Mănescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Carlos Pombal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octav Tudoran in the 17th minute of play forced C.s.s. Zalau's goalkeeper José Carlos Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Eagles Sibiu booed when C.s.s. Zalau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nechifor Calini didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Per Fernström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Eagles Sibiu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.s.s. Zalau the free kick. In the 19th match minute, FC Eagles Sibiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Per Fernström to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Şchiopu in the 22nd minute of play forced C.s.s. Zalau's goalkeeper José Carlos Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Octav Tudoran succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Octav Tudoran struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. José Carlos Pombal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Eagles Sibiu. Călin Şchiopu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carlos Pombal having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Bogatu in the 43rd minute of play forced FC Eagles Sibiu's goalkeeper Ferdinand Amurăriței to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Costin Cotuțiu hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iulian Taşcău to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Iulian Taşcău's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ferdinand Amurăriței was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. José Carlos Pombal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. FC Eagles Sibiu made a substitution. Vintilă Băsescu replaced Călin Şchiopu. Ferdinand Amurăriței took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iulian Taşcău, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Mihail Mihalcea fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Eagles Sibiu's protests and gave Mihail Mihalcea a yellow card for diving instead. Ferdinand Amurăriței showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Bogatu, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Eagles Sibiu walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
