Steaua Bucuresti's Valer Corduneanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horaţiu Petruescu in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Mitrea in the 5th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Valer Corduneanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale's zone, Basarab Neicu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionuț Huștiu came out of the goal and Basarab Neicu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale's Ionuț Huștiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radu Panaite in the 8th minute of play. Ionuț Huștiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Guriță, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the game, David Mitrea cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Valer Corduneanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 16th minute, Ilie Alupoaie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute, Cristi Apostol sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Steaua Bucuresti's Valer Corduneanu didn't even have to move. Horaţiu Petruescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ilie Alupoaie during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st match minute, Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ilie Alupoaie to maneuver through the defense. Bogdan Ghionea shot from long distance in the 22nd minute, but Valer Corduneanu was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. The supporters of -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale booed when Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sever Chelaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Ovidiu Crețu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valer Corduneanu having to interfere. In the 53rd minute Mihail Glăvan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valer Corduneanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valer Corduneanu came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale's Mihail Glăvan. But to his dismay, Mihail Glăvan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After 57 played minutes Steaua Bucuresti got a freekick which was hit by David Guriță. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Petruescu in the 67th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Valer Corduneanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valer Corduneanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florin Astafei, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. When -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale's David Mitrea in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 74th minute, David Mitrea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Valer Corduneanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Mitrea went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Ionuț Huștiu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Radu Panaite in the 84th minute. Valer Corduneanu came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Cele 11 Sarmale's Mugur Hârțan. But to his dismay, Mugur Hârțan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Valer Corduneanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horaţiu Petruescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valer Corduneanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florin Astafei in the 94th minute of the match.
