Barsa AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicu Banu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 5 minutes into the match, FC Universitatea Craiova's goalkeeper Paul Pintea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicu Banu. 12 minutes into the match, Barsa AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Ailenei came free, but Ştefan Oroveanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FC Universitatea Craiova booed when Barsa AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Călin Afloarei didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute, Adrian Ailenei made a precise shot to the right of Ştefan Oroveanu. Barsa AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The supporters of FC Universitatea Craiova booed when Barsa AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicu Banu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Damian Pânzariu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ştefan Oroveanu having to make a save. In the 26th minute, Călin Afloarei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Damian Pânzariu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paul Pintea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicu Banu, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luca Ianculescu in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ştefan Oroveanu saved Barsa AFC from getting behind. Frederik Lang kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Eugen Dărăscu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ştefan Oroveanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Ianculescu in the 37th minute of play. FC Universitatea Craiova's Damian Pânzariu suffered a sore thigh after 38 minutes and couldn't finish the game. FC Universitatea Craiova's Gheorghe Bejenaru was substituted for Damian Pânzariu. After 39 played minutes Barsa AFC got a freekick which was hit by Dinu Cristea. After the first half FC Universitatea Craiova were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Nicu Banu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adrian Ailenei could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Ştefan Oroveanu made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Gheorghe Bejenaru managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Universitatea Craiova's supporters rose to their feet, but Gheorghe Bejenaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ştefan Oroveanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ştefan Oroveanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Cernescu in the 62nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Luca Ianculescu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ştefan Oroveanu. That made the score 0-2 in the 64 minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, FC Universitatea Craiova's Gheorghe Bejenaru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ştefan Oroveanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luca Ianculescu in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ştefan Oroveanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ştefan Oroveanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Remus Vulcănescu in the 74th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adrian Ailenei got free with Ştefan Oroveanu in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 80 played minutes Barsa AFC got a freekick which was hit by Călin Afloarei. After a rather tough play, Barsa AFC's Frederik Lang got a free kick in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Ailenei in the 90th minute of play forced Barsa AFC's goalkeeper Ştefan Oroveanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luca Ianculescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ştefan Oroveanu came out and tried to block the shot, but Luca Ianculescu slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 92nd minute. 97 minutes into the match, Luca Ianculescu notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Barsa AFC's Ştefan Oroveanu. Ştefan Oroveanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. FC Universitatea Craiova's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
