In the 21st minute of the match Warta Czestochowa got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ksawery Bienienda ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Warta Czestochowa's Wlodzimierz Smolarek to a score. 1-1 in the 22nd minute. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chris Mergenthaler during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 26th minute, one of Germany:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Germany. The goalkeeper, Tommy Kahn, was totally fooled by Warta Czestochowa's Antônio Carlos Nogueira, who 27 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. If Dobromir Marosz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Germany's Chris Mergenthaler got a free kick in the 34th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Antônio Carlos Nogueira could shoot a difficult shot in the 36th minute, which Tommy Kahn however easily saved by the left post. Antônio Carlos Nogueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save.

Warta Czestochowa's Miromir Miodek was substituted for Ludomir Gall. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Albin Holweck stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Antônio Carlos Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, Miromir Miodek cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. After 91 played minutes Warta Czestochowa got a freekick which was hit by Dino Mendes. A collision led to Warta Czestochowa getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Dino Mendes hit a great ball. In the 96th minute Antônio Carlos Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
