In the 7th minute, Emanuel Irod hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tobias Emander was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 8th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Gică Nestor made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Stig-Åke Gabrielsson sent off a good shot on target. Viola Invest's Dumitru Doloman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iurie Praporgescu in the 11th minute of play. Dumitru Doloman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Constantin Negulescu in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Constantin Negulescu in the 18th minute of play forced Viola Invest's goalkeeper Dumitru Doloman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dumitru Doloman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moise Mercea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Gabrielsson in the 27th minute of play forced Sampdoria's goalkeeper Gică Nestor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Moise Mercea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sampdoria's supporters rose to their feet, but Moise Mercea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dumitru Doloman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 39th minute Iurie Praporgescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dumitru Doloman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jairo Hodei kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. If Panait Zdroană had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Constantin Negulescu struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Dumitru Doloman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sampdoria. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iurie Praporgescu to make the kick off. After 50 played minutes Viola Invest got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Emander. Emanuel Irod kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. With a little luck, Viola Invest's Dumitru Doloman got control of the ball when Iurie Praporgescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Sampdoria's Constantin Negulescu in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iurie Praporgescu got free with Dumitru Doloman in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kuuno Tälli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 74th match minute, Sampdoria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Irod to maneuver through the defense. Constantin Negulescu hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Petrică Moisil lost his temper 76 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 76th match minute, Sampdoria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petrică Moisil to maneuver through the defense. Gică Nestor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kuuno Tälli in the 77th minute of the match. Sever Cornoiu hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Mario Jakobe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gică Nestor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Åke Gabrielsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 89th minute, Stig-Åke Gabrielsson made a precise shot to the right of Gică Nestor. Sampdoria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The Sampdoria players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Viola Invest from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
