After some careless play in the RB Buzău defense, Jorginho Queiroz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Radu Barbălată. The RB Buzău fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Radu Barbălată should have stopped the shot. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Politehnica Iasi from getting a goal against them. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Galo van Basten in the 25th minute of play. RB Buzău's Radu Barbălată played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho Queiroz in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Anton Munteanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Radu Barbălată saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Politehnica Iasi's Luca Velicu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Zheng Cheng Zheng, made in the 34th minute of the game. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Politehnica Iasi from getting a goal against them. After 39 minutes Politehnica Iasi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Moise Bădiță who took care of the corner kick. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Jean-Pierre Cardinal took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Emilian Feteanu to make any attempt to save it. Radu Barbălată showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorginho Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After a defensive mix-up in RB Buzău's zone, Jorginho Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radu Barbălată came out of the goal and Jorginho Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The RB Buzău players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Politehnica Iasi were winning 1-2.

In the 51st minute, Jorginho Queiroz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Radu Barbălată. The goal made the score 1-3. If Galo van Basten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the match, RB Buzău's goal looked a bit too open when Silviu Zburliş came free, but Radu Barbălată reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The coaching staff of RB Buzău protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jere Ugo Peña had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for RB Buzău! Radu Barbălată had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping David Cărtărescu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Galo van Basten in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emilian Feteanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 93rdth minute of the game Jorginho Queiroz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but RB Buzău's Radu Barbălată was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 96th match minute, Politehnica Iasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stelian Encioiu to maneuver through the defense. Emilian Feteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moritz Regal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Mazza in the 98th minute of play forced Politehnica Iasi's goalkeeper Emilian Feteanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 98 minutes into the game, Abel Mazza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Emilian Feteanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
