Spectators: 9211 (Terracing: 6910, Seating: 2118, VIP seats: 183) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gelu Alexandrescu took the kick off in the first half of the match. Augustin Hârlab recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paul Mirea scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nechifor Păunescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When UM Timisoara's Paul Ghimpu in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. UM Timisoara's Juan Gaitan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save UM Timisoara from getting a goal against them. Fotbal Club Otelul Galati's Gelu Alexandrescu got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gelu Alexandrescus short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Juan Gaitan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 28th minute Yuri Mourato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Păunescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 龙冰文 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Juan Gaitan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute Paul Mirea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Păunescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Fotbal Club Otelul Galati's goal looked a bit too open when Yuri Mourato came free, but Nechifor Păunescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yuri Mourato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, UM Timisoara's goalkeeper Juan Gaitan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cezar Cucu. Nechifor Păunescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leo Weterio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leo Weterio made a kick off. With a little luck, Fotbal Club Otelul Galati's Nechifor Păunescu got control of the ball when Paul Mirea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nechifor Păunescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Ghimpu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nechifor Păunescu made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Alex Bungescu sent off a good shot on target. With 59 minutes on the clock, Horia Ivașcu commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 59 played minutes Fotbal Club Otelul Galati got a freekick which was hit by Horia Ivașcu. Nechifor Păunescu made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Paul Mirea sent off a good shot on target. The Fotbal Club Otelul Galati fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Fotbal Club Otelul Galati's Gelu Alexandrescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience was convinced that Gelu Alexandrescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Gaitan was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juan Gaitan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. UM Timisoara's Basarab Drăgoi was substituted for Alex Bungescu. After 90 played minutes UM Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Vlad Ghionaru. In the 91st minute of the match Denis Dorlea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juan Gaitan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul Mirea got free with Nechifor Păunescu in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fotbal Club Otelul Galati's Nechifor Păunescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Fotbal Club Otelul Galati from getting a goal against them. Fotbal Club Otelul Galati were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of UM Timisoara for a fine match.
