Dainis Burkevics showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dainis Burkevics got free with Håkan Sjöberg in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, FC Barca's goalkeeper Håkan Sjöberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dainis Burkevics. In the 21st minute of the match Otomārs Ūbelis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Håkan Sjöberg skillfully saved the ball. 22 minutes into the match, FC Barca's goalkeeper Håkan Sjöberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dainis Burkevics. The referee ignored FC Barca's protests and gave Mintauts Miemelis a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Barca getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Mintauts Miemelis hit a great ball. Flavinho Martins kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Dainis Burkevics in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Håkan Sjöberg, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eglons Montvids in the 42nd minute of play forced FC Barca's goalkeeper Håkan Sjöberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

After a defensive mix-up in FC Barca's zone, Dainis Burkevics stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Håkan Sjöberg came out of the goal and Dainis Burkevics tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 56th minute, ARCHER's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Flavinho Martins fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. FC Barca's Håkan Sjöberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dainis Burkevics in the 58th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eglons Montvids in the 59th minute of play forced FC Barca's goalkeeper Håkan Sjöberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute Dainis Burkevics shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Håkan Sjöberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olavs Sedlenieks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavinho Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Flavinho Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Olavs Sedlenieks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Martins in the 83rd minute of play forced ARCHER's goalkeeper Olavs Sedlenieks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the FC Barca defense, Dainis Burkevics kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Håkan Sjöberg. The FC Barca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Håkan Sjöberg should have stopped the shot. FC Barca's Håkan Sjöberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eglons Montvids in the 92nd minute of play. Laimiņs Reitmanis kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
