Sporting Riga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Toms Solcs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 15 minutes, Kristiāns Ludza made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Sporting Riga's Ēriks Kiršblats tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopolds Pluksnis in the 27th minute of play forced Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi's goalkeeper Tālis Rasickis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tālis Rasickis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leopolds Pluksnis was the one to do the kick off. Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi's Skaidris Žoriks got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopolds Pluksnis in the 54th minute of play forced Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi's goalkeeper Tālis Rasickis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ziedonis Runcevics during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ēriks Kiršblats showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristiāns Ludza in the 59th minute of the match. In the 64th minute Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi were awarded a corner. Gunis Bruņenieks went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Gunis Bruņenieks almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sporting Riga's Ēriks Kiršblats did a great save. Leopolds Pluksnis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leopolds Pluksnis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tālis Rasickis having to interfere. After 76 minutes, Valdemārs Sikaters mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi and the Sporting Riga players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Valdemārs Sikaters hit a great ball. Ziedonis Runcevics kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Kristiāns Ludza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Bēdīgi Slavenie Mērgļi walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
