If Guntars Čiriks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, PFK Smiltnieki's Valdis Rulevics got control of the ball when Ģirts Abulnieks tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 27th minute, Guntars Čiriks fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A collision led to PFK Smiltnieki getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Askolds Cvimmers hit a great ball. If Guntars Čiriks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Guntars Čiriks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pruli's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guntars Čiriks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Askolds Cvimmers to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Askolds Cvimmers in the 53rd minute of play forced Pruli's goalkeeper Intars Baltābols to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes into the match, PFK Smiltnieki's goal looked a bit too open when Guntars Čiriks came free, but Valdis Rulevics reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, Aivils Jurensons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pruli's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PFK Smiltnieki the free kick. In the 62nd minute, Aivils Jurensons hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Pruli's zone, Georgs Vārpulis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Intars Baltābols came out of the goal and Georgs Vārpulis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Intars Baltābols made an important save on a dangerous shot by Georgs Vārpulis in the 67th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Ģirts Abulnieks managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pruli's supporters rose to their feet, but Ģirts Abulnieks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdis Rulevics breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 71 minutes, Valts Sietiņsons mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PFK Smiltnieki and the Pruli players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, PFK Smiltnieki's Valts Sietiņsons got a free kick in the 71st minute. Valdis Rulevics showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raimonds Indriķis-Redzīgais, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Ģirts Abulnieks took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdis Rulevics. Valdis Rulevics dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Valdis Rulevics took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ģirts Abulnieks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 85th match minute, PFK Smiltnieki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uldis Palkavnieks to maneuver through the defense. Valdis Rulevics showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guntars Čiriks in the 88th minute of the match. The goalkeeper, Intars Baltābols, was totally fooled by PFK Smiltnieki's Dāgs Kairāns, who 91 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Intars Baltābols took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Askolds Cvimmers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pruli were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
