To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th match minute, FC Kurm was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elvijs Kobals to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute Visvaldis Seflers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egons Butkovskis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FK Tornado's zone, Ārvalds Stekels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egons Butkovskis came out of the goal and Ārvalds Stekels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ārvalds Stekels came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the FC Kurm fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ārvalds Stekels couldn't finish the play. Ingvars Ceriņš hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. If Ārvalds Stekels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, FC Kurm's Visvaldis Seflers got a free kick in the 29th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Visvaldis Seflers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egons Butkovskis. FK Tornado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Visvaldis Seflers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 39th match minute, FK Tornado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduards Ķauķis to maneuver through the defense. FC Kurm's Mārtiņs Vārdaunis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 39th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FK Tornado. Visvaldis Seflers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Egons Butkovskis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, FK Tornado's goal looked a bit too open when Ārvalds Stekels came free, but Egons Butkovskis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of FC Kurm booed when FK Tornado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pēteris Ragenas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54th minute, FC Kurm's Visvaldis Seflers ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Egons Butkovskis. Egons Butkovskis yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. The audience was convinced that Visvaldis Seflers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Egons Butkovskis was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Ārvalds Stekels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egons Butkovskis having to interfere. Egons Butkovskis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Visvaldis Seflers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
