Ernests Staķēns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andris Erkmanis having to interfere. The supporters of FK Jelgava booed when Bozauka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitauts Brensmits didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 46th minute, when FK Jelgava's Viesturs Ločmelis after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Andris Erkmanis in Bozauka's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vitauts Brensmits stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, FK Jelgava's Herberts Ruseckis got control of the ball when Daumants Upmalis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Herberts Ruseckis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitauts Brensmits in the 67th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in FK Jelgava's zone, Norberts Putrenieks stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herberts Ruseckis came out of the goal and Norberts Putrenieks tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Santis Jasukēns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vitauts Brensmits in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herberts Ruseckis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Norberts Putrenieks kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Herberts Ruseckis. That made the score 1-1 in the 82 minute of play. In the 86th match minute, FK Jelgava was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberts Galvāns to maneuver through the defense. Vitauts Brensmits fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herberts Ruseckis having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Bozauka's Herberts Ruseckis threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vitauts Brensmits, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The long shot by Ivars Puters in the 94th minute really tested Herberts Ruseckis's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.
