In the 9th match minute, FC Tsesis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rets Prodnieks to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the match, SKONTO FC's Valts Markitāns sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Normunds Zalmams narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, FC Tsesis's goal looked a bit too open when Alfons Fausts came free, but Normunds Zalmams reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rets Prodnieks kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Alfons Fausts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Normunds Zalmams tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Aivars Tuksenieks cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Agris Vatmanis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th minute of the match Dans Kauskals shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Normunds Zalmams showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Normunds Zalmams made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfons Fausts in the 39th minute of play. Andis Mazversitis's late challenge caught a SKONTO FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Andis Mazversitis helped the player get up and apologised. Andis Mazversitis hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After having played for 41 minutes, Valts Markitāns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SKONTO FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valts Markitāns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Valts Markitāns made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Valts Markitāns lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Normunds Zalmams. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Tsesis's goalkeeper Normunds Zalmams, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dans Kauskals in the 56th minute of play forced FC Tsesis's goalkeeper Normunds Zalmams to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Tsesis's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dans Kauskals was slow to take the kick. During this time SKONTO FC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on SKONTO FC's corner Saivis Širaks fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Normunds Zalmams quite easily take care of the ball. In the 59th minute SKONTO FC were awarded a corner. Dans Kauskals went to the cornerflag to take it. SKONTO FC's Alfons Fausts got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of SKONTO FC booed when FC Tsesis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fridrikis Lovcijs didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valts Markitāns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Normunds Zalmams made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Juris Čiriks sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 69 in the game by Dailis Miljons from a close distance when the talented Normunds Zalmams managed to make a qualified save. FC Tsesis's players were relieved. In the 72nd minute, Alfons Fausts made a precise shot to the right of Normunds Zalmams. FC Tsesis's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Agris Vatmanis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisks Slavites in the 81st minute of play. Rets Prodnieks got his second yellow card in the match during the 84th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of SKONTO FC booed when FC Tsesis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rets Prodnieks didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valts Markitāns received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Normunds Zalmams tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dailis Miljons's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Normunds Zalmams read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, SKONTO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aivars Tuksenieks came free, but Agris Vatmanis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SKONTO FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
