Zenonas Jovaiša was slow to take the kick. During this time FK Vilnius's players had a chance to rest. In the 14th minute Merūnas Arlauskas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundas Kairys saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Geniukai's Raimundas Kairys got control of the ball when Zenonas Jovaiša tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 20 minutes, Germanas Mikutavičius mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Geniukai and the FK Vilnius players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Geniukai's Germanas Mikutavičius got a free kick in the 20th minute. The Geniukai fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raimundas Kairys should have stopped the shot. In the 26th minute, Merūnas Arlauskas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Raimundas Kairys. The goal made the score 2-0. FK Vilnius's Gytis Baura shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 32nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Raimundas Kairys but with some difficulty. 33 minutes into the match, Geniukai's goalkeeper Raimundas Kairys had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Herkus Bračas. If Jotautas Rinkevičius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Zenonas Jovaiša came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the FK Vilnius fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zenonas Jovaiša couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute Merūnas Arlauskas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundas Kairys saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Evaldas Jokubaitis to make the kick off. Jotautas Rinkevičius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albinas Maksimavičius having to interfere. Raimundas Kairys showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Merūnas Arlauskas, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 87 played minutes Geniukai got a freekick which was hit by Germanas Mikutavičius. When FK Vilnius's Zenonas Jovaiša in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Evaldas Jokubaitis's late challenge caught a FK Vilnius's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evaldas Jokubaitis helped the player get up and apologised. After 95 played minutes Geniukai got a freekick which was hit by Evaldas Jokubaitis. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FK Vilnius had played much better football throughout.
