After a defensive mix-up in Vilkavishkis's zone, Stasys Trubutis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gintas Kupcinskas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Einaras Imbrasas having to interfere. Pavilkija's Einaras Imbrasas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Pavilkija from getting a goal against them. 32 minutes into the game, Remigijus Brodovskis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vilkavishkis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pavilkija the free kick. Remigijus Brodovskis hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Pavilkija's Vygantas Vaičius got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 40th minute, Redas Andriuškevičius ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vytis Kucys was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Redas Andriuškevičius came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Pavilkija fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Redas Andriuškevičius couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
