When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Aistis Kuprys put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Linas Gerulskis. In the 7th minute, Ignas Drazdauskas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. NEMUNAS KAUNAS's Ramūnas Knieža played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mindaugas Smilgys in the 11th minute of play. Ramūnas Knieža took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marijonas Vaitiekaitis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 14th minute of the match, Naglis Songaila tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ramūnas Knieža saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Aistis Kuprys had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 23rd minute Stanislovas Strielkauskas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Linas Gerulskis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of NEMUNAS KAUNAS booed when Lybiskia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mindaugas Smilgys didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marijus Lapeika to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Marijus Lapeika managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lybiskia's supporters rose to their feet, but Marijus Lapeika was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramūnas Knieža breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Linas Gerulskis successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marijus Lapeika sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice moves Aistis Kuprys could shoot a difficult shot in the 69th minute, which Linas Gerulskis however easily saved by the left post. Ramūnas Knieža showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marijus Lapeika, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 76th minute, Marijonas Vaitiekaitis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ramūnas Knieža was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. In the 79th minute, Stanislovas Strielkauskas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aistis Kuprys got free with Linas Gerulskis in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 88 minutes into the match, Marijonas Vaitiekaitis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ramūnas Knieža. NEMUNAS KAUNAS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marijonas Vaitiekaitis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3.
